For the past couple of months I’ve been searching high and low for a vintage bar cart. I’m not a heavy drinker but after seeing this cart I had to have one. Searching online wasn’t yielding any promising results. All of the carts I found were either too expensive or not quite what I was looking for. I visited several DC furniture shops with no luck. One generous shop owner recommended that I pay Miss Pixie’s off 14th Street a visit.
Once I got into the shop I was sort of overwhelmed with their selection. Miss Pixie’s Furnishings and WhatNots is exactly that…a mix of vintage furniture, unique pieces, and random knick knacks!
And there is was… sitting off to the side in the front of the store like it was waiting for me to discover it! The perfect vintage bar cart!
I set my bar cart budget at $200 or less so when I realized this was above my price point my heart dropped. I left extremely disappointed. Once I got home I started searching online again yet nothing came close to the one I saw in person. A few days later I was still dreaming of the bar cart so I went back to see if it was there. To my surprise it was! So of course I took it as “a sign” that I had to get it. Holding off proved to be a good thing. Miss Pixie herself was in the shop on my second visit and offered a generous discount for glass damage that was hardly noticeable. I am so excited about my new bar cart! I can’t wait to accessorize it!
Miss Pixie’s Furnishings and WhatNots is located at 1626 14th St NW| Not in DC? You can window shop online.
Thursday night I went to check out La Petite Marmoset’s new showroom in Columbia Heights. Once I got there I decided to do something that I never do…I didn’t pull out the Nikon! Instead of trying to capture the perfect candids I just embraced being there. I browsed the two-level, loft style showroom, stuffed my face, and caught up with some of my DC blogging friends. I did take a few pics on my phone that I posted on Instagram.
Ashley & Katherine of LPM
Before I arrived Tamika tweeted me and said she was reppin the ImREDy campaign! Had to make sure I snapped her pic! Her natural hair and rep lip was gorgeous!
Congratulations to Ashley and Katherine on your beautiful new showroom! Thank you for opening up your creative space. Check out their redesigned vintage pieces online.
Saturday evening I stopped by Barcode for the 8 Vintage Launch Party to support Krystin and Denisio. These two have been partnering together for awhile now and just launched their online shop featuring carefully redesigned vintage pieces.
After viewing the look book on Friday, I was slightly disappointed that none of the reconstructed vintage pieces were on display to see and purchase in person. Before heading out I snapped a few pics.

I previously mentioned 2 DC creatives Krystin and Denisio in my DC Blogs You Should Read series. These two have been partnering together for awhile now and this Saturday is the launch party of their new Etsy boutique 8 Vintage! 8 Vintage will be an online boutique which will feature a new collection of eight reconstructed vintage pieces every 6 weeks. 8 Vintage pieces are carefully picked and redesigned by Krystin and Denisio for the fashionista who wants to stand out. I’m looking forward to seeing the selection. RSVP to the event HERE.
A few weeks ago I introduced Seventh District readers to one of DC’s premiere vintage boutiques It’s Vintage Darling! As a first timer the store manager and buyer Elise offered some great vintage shopping advice and style tips. She’s back with a great video segment with Expressive Frontier on how to incorporate vintage pieces into your wardrobe.
