DC does have a habit but it’s not what you’re thinking. DC is known for making all things old new again. The latest new hot spot in Penn Quarter/Chinatown is no exception. Dirty Habit DC is a luxe restaurant and bar that offers a vivid social scene centered around expertly-crafted cocktails, an innovative social plates menu, edgy design and an expansive urban patio. The interiors are magnificent. A complete upgrade from when it was Poste Moderne Brasserie. Dirty Habit is easily one of my new favorite spots in DC.
If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you’ve heard me mention this spot weeks ago.
I’ve dined here a few times and my two favorite cocktails are the Matcha Picchu with Pisco, guava, velvet falernum, matcha, lime, egg white and the Rude Bwoy with Jameson, hamilton Jamaican rum, cynar, banana, coconut, nutmeg. These drinks instantly reminded me of the islands.
My mouth was watering while the waiter was describing the chili thread, sweet and spicy sauce on the Fried Chicken Wings. After his introduction I had to get them and each wing lived up to the hype! Hands down some of the best wings in the city. Fair warning: eat them with a fork because they can get messy. For my main course I ordered the Curry Shrimp with rice. This dish was really good but I would have preferred less sauce, and more shrimp. I was sure to save room for a sweat treat. I happily indulged in not one but two amazingly delicious bite sized, desserts. The Hazelnut Dacquoise was chocolately goodness and the Puff Pastry Allumette with honey roasted apples was perfection!
For the milder Winter weekends (Thursday through Sunday nights) Dirty Habit just opened its brand new open air patio appropriately called the Dirty Habit Firescape. If the temps are above 45 degrees you and your friends can sit outside by the fireplace. I hear they have robes for guests and warm cocktails. Sounds cozy right? Definitely make your way to Dirty Habit
soon and be sure to tell them I sent you.
