Earlier this week I made a trip out to my old stomping grounds of Rockville, Maryland for a private evening of bubbly, bites, and brazilians to celebrate the new Shobha opening. After much anticipation, and as a result of the popularity of its Dupont Circle shop, Shobha opened its second DC area location (and seventh nationwide) in Rockville Pike.
Shobha offers hairless happiness methods of hair removal including laser, sugaring, threading, waxing, and trimming. I’m no stranger to waxing it all off and I’m an eye brow threading regular so this was right up my alley. My monthly visitor hated on me and showed up the morning of the event so I had to skip experiencing their signature sugaring removal process. If you aren’t familiar sugaring is a form of hair removal that resembles waxing, but is gentler on the skin. Shobha’s all natural formula uses only sugar, lemon juice, water and glycerin. Can you believe their sugar is safe enough to add in your favorite summer cocktail recipe?! I can’t wait to go back just to try it.
As an added treat, invited guests had the chance to meet with the hair removal guru herself, Shobha Tummala.
We are thrilled to be expanding our footprint in the Washington, D.C. area. We had received dozens of requests for additional locations surrounding Washington, a fact that seems to reflect the areas growing stature on the beauty, fashion and retail fronts. -Shobha Tummala
The Shobha Rockville Pike shop houses a curated retail boutique of hard-to-find natural beauty products, private treatment rooms and a threading bar and provides the same expansive menu of services that DC and New York City clients seek, but with an address that circumvents city traffic. The suburban location is totally a bonus. You don’t have to drive yourself crazy looking for parking and you can actually enjoy your wax instead of praying your car doesn’t have a ticket when you return.
In true product junkie fashion I couldn’t leave without buying something new. The staff raved about the Shobha Exfoliating Cloth for sensitive skin and prevention of ingrown hairs. The $15 exfoliating cloth (purchase online here) is made from 100% natural plant fibers, lasts one year, and it’s machine washable. Since I’m an easy sell it was a no brainer. I’ll be sure to do a quick product review on it after I’ve used it for a while. For all my friends in the Maryland area I highly recommend a visit to the new Shobha located at 1800 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852. Book your appointment online and be sure to tell them I sent you!
