This Fall and Winter Dr. Martens is hosting a series of concerts across the US celebrating their #StandForSomething Campaign. Last week the tour hit DC to drive awareness to music education. To celebrate the occasion the Academies at Anacostia drum line marched through Georgetown streets while spectators and friends were encouraged to express “what they stand for”. The march culminated with free performances by alternative rock bands July Talk and Little Hurricane inside the Dr. Martens store.
There are so many social and political issues to advocate for. I stand for those who were innocently killed by police violence but on this particular day I needed a personal reminder that I Stand For ME! Life has taught me there are times when you have to encourage yourself. From this day forward I urge everyone to be intentional about being their own biggest fan and personal cheerleader!
Special thanks to Dr. Martens for inviting me to participate in this campaign and my dope new boots! The cherry wine color is perfect for Fall. I love them!
