Namaste! Or in other words I bow to the divine in you. Hopefully by now if you read this blog you also follow me on Instagram. If so you may have noticed this pic from this past weekend at Bendy Brunch hosted by Grip The Mat. Grip the Mat is a new DC yoga company pioneering yoga social events. They collaborated with No Kings Collective for Day 3 of their 5 year anniversary event: 100% Bread.
Myself along with over 70 yogis gathered at the historic Wonder Bread Factory for a mixed-level sensory yoga social event. Surrounded by dope art, combined with soothing music, I found the class to be extremely relaxing yet challenging.
After yoga it was time to eat and drink! The brunch menu was light, healthy and equally delicious. I was hungry so I tried a little of everything from the menu which included: Khmer Lemongrass Chicken Breast with Coconut Curry Sauce, Roasted Chilled Beets, Couscous with Cherry Tomatoes, Zucchini and Fresh Herbs tossed in a Lemon Vinaigrette. I should have snapped a picture because the vegetables were cooked to perfection!
Mimosas and Honest Tea lemonade
Quick pause to talk about the greatness of Ted’s Bulletin’s homemade pop tarts. These things are sooo good! I literally had a moment where I convinced myself I could only eat one. I didn’t want the entire yoga session I just sweated my way through to be a complete waste.
I’m so glad I attended! I met some cool new faces and was encouraged to start practicing more. If you missed out on Bendy Brunch no worries. Later this month (Oct 9th and 23rd) GTM is hosting the Vinyasa to Vino series which features a yoga class followed by a wine tasting! This event is set to sell out so if you’re interested get your early bird tickets on Eventbrite.
