Justice For Mike Brown

I could not go another day and post about fashion and beauty without acknowledging the wrongful shooting death of the unarmed teenager Michael Brown Jr. in Ferguson, MO. For readers that don’t know I was born and raised in St. Louis County. Ferguson is literally within 5 minutes from where I grew up so this situation hits home hard! I’ll reserve my strong opinions about the case for offline conversations. I would hate for anything I share here to be used against me in any kind of way. Instead I offer my support to ensure justice is served. All last week I shared updates on Twitter and shared the peaceful protest locations across the country on my Facebook Page. Unfortunately I was unable to attend the DC demonstration. The parking situation at Malcolm X Meridian Hill Park was impossible! I literally drove around for about 45 minutes looking for parking with no avail. I felt helpless and defeated as I drove home. As of now I don’t know of any other planned rallies here in DC but there are other ways to help. If you aren’t in the St. Louis area here are 4 other ways to help.

4 Ways to Help the Family of Michael Brown

1. Donate to #OperationHelporHush started via Twitter to raise funds for protestors in Ferguson. So far they have raised over $15,000 dollars!

2. Donate to the Michael Brown Memorial Fund. All funds collected on this website will be withdrawn to the Brown Memorial Fund established by the parents of Michael Brown. Donations will be used by the Brown family to cover funeral and burial expenses, travel and living expenses of the parents. Anyone with further questions may contact their law office at 1(877) 529-9529.

3. If you don’t want to donate directly feel free to purchase items off this Amazon Wish List. Items are being shipped to Ferguson.

4. Sign the petition to Enact New Federal Laws to Protect Citizens from Police Violence and Misconduct

    Peace sister.

What things are your family saying about the happenings (if any are still there)? I bet it all seems surreal.

And there’s still hope if you want to capture something.. there’s a ‘March to Chinatown for Mike Brown’ on Saturday, August 23 at 7:00pm beginning at Mt Vernon Square. I may attend if I’m not at Trillectro.

And great to meet you Saturday supporting Fab Empire! You rock!!

Yes the protests are still happening daily! Friends actually in Ferguson are providing social media updates that dispel much of what the media is trying to push off on the public.

Thank you for letting me know about Saturday I had no idea!
