Weekends in the city are made for brunch! Well at least in DC they are. Earlier this month some friends were in town and we decided to try a Georgetown fave Kafe Leopold. After waiting for what seemed like forever (they don’t accept reservations) we were seated inside next to the window. Which initially I didn’t mind since I got a great view of the outdoor patio and courtyard. I proceeded to look over the menu and realized this was an over-priced Austrian restaurant. After some major eye rolling we ordered and the pleasant waitress brought over a bread basket.
After we ordered I realized sitting next to the window probably wasn’t the best idea. The whole right side of my body was literally blazing since it was 100+ degrees outside AND the air conditioning was non-existent! YES! NO AIR in the middle of July! I’ll give them a pass since it has been brutally hot this summer but surely a chic place like this should have a back up! Anyway here’s a few snaps of what we ordered.
The food was decent but while we were eating we slowly realized that maybe we shouldn’t have ordered off the breakfast menu. None of the tables around us had breakfast. Maybe that explains why I didn’t care for their version of a Belgium waffle. Even though I expected sooo much more I’d probably go back. Why you ask? Simply because I love ambiance and Kafe Leopold definitely gets an A for their incredibly chic and relaxed atmosphere. The cafe is tucked off in a secluded, quiet part of Georgetown. I can envision going back one weekend to get chatty on the outdoor patio with a friend over pastries and coffee.
