#NoteToSelf: Put Them On The Table

Nia Long Essence August 2012

Sunday afternoon I was flipping through the latest issue of Essence Magazine featuring Nia Long. While reading her interview a bold statement immediately caught my attention. So much that I just sat at the table re-reading it over and over. It’s now Wednesday and her words keep finding their way back to me that I knew I had to share. Women take notes! I most certainly did!

Sidebar: can we just talk about how unfair it is for her to look this amazing at 40 with two kids?! Two snaps Miss Long!

:) it’s true! last week, i was having a conversation about the (bare with me) asshole archetype with a friend. in a letter, i asked, “is my asshole balanced?” she replied with, “it’s better to have an asshole than to be an asshole.” this is not the same thing nia’s saying, but similar. women don’t have to act like men, but they do need to know when to utilize more “masculine” traits like assertiveness.

    thanks for the reminder.
